How to clean a reusable silicone air fryer liner

A reusable silicone liner can make cleaning up after an air fryer meal easier. Instead of scrubbing food residue from the basket, you can remove the liner and wash it separately. The liner still needs cleaning after use, and you should continue to clean your appliance as its manufacturer recommends.

Here is a straightforward routine for Kitchen Academics silicone liners.

1. Let the liner cool

Switch off the air fryer and allow the liner and any grease inside it to cool before cleaning. Silicone handles can become hot during cooking, so a handle should not be treated as protection from heat.

2. Remove loose food and grease

Remove loose crumbs and food residue before washing. Pay attention to the areas between the raised ridges and around the perimeter, where grease can collect. This is particularly useful after cooking foods such as wings, bacon or roasted vegetables.

3. Wash in the dishwasher

Our reusable silicone air fryer liners are dishwasher safe. Place the liner where the dishwasher spray can reach the ridged surface, following your dishwasher’s loading instructions.

The liner is designed to be reused. Keeping the base and ridges clean makes it ready for the next meal.

4. Check before putting it away

After washing, check the ridges and edges for any remaining residue. Let the liner dry before storage. If food remains in a groove, clean that area again rather than leaving it for the next cooking session.

What do the ridges do?

The raised silicone ridges lift food above grease collected in the base. These are useful features during cooking, but they also give you specific areas to check when cleaning.

Choose a liner that fits your basket

A liner’s shape and measurements matter as much as its cleaning routine. Compare its dimensions with the usable inside of your basket, including the narrower base if the basket tapers. An appliance’s litre capacity alone does not establish a fit.

Read our air fryer liner size guide to compare our round, square and rectangular options. Follow your appliance manufacturer’s instructions on accessories and clearance.

Ready for your next meal

Kitchen Academics liners are made from food-grade, BPA-free silicone and have a listed temperature range of −40°C to 240°C. Always stay within your appliance’s instructions as well as the accessory’s limits.

Keeping the ridges clean

Check the grooves as well as the flat base after each wash. Let the liner dry before putting it away, and inspect it for damage before reusing it.
